Following its 58-7 loss against Notre Dame on Saturday, Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi was ridiculed for a partial quote pulled from his press conference.

Upon first glance it is easy to see why the post of Narduzzi's quote from Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter Noah Hiles would raise eyebrows from Pitt players, former players, media and fans alike. However, this quote only told a part of the story as Narduzzi did put the blame on himself when the full context is provided.

"I’ll go back - As a football coach you lose a lot of good players from a year ago and you think as a coach you’re going to replace them and obviously we haven’t," Narduzzi said. "Again, it starts with me. I didn’t do a good enough job coaching today. Put it on me and we’ve got to make plays."

It goes without saying that critiquing the talent of your players is a quick way to lose the locker room - even if you say it is your own fault for recruiting said players who lack talent. Maybe Narduzzi was simply trying to attract a new caliber of player to Pittsburgh by letting recruits from across the nation know there is opportunity to play early, or maybe things were said in the heat of the moment by a frustrated head coach who just watched his team fall to 2-6 on the season.
