Today we look at the tale of the tape of the positions for both West Virginia and TCU to see which team in our analysis comes out on top pitted against each other.

The No. 23 Mountaineers are fresh off a bye with a 3-1 record but will face its toughest challenge of the season to date when the team travels to Fort Worth for a matchup with the top ten Horned Frogs. West Virginia has boasted one of the nation’s best offenses, currently No. 2 nationally, averaging 594.8 yards and 48.8 points per contest. The offense has converted 40.7 percent of its third down attempts and has turned the ball over five times on the season in four games.

On the flip side, TCU comes into the matchup with the 29th best defense nationally allowing only 323 yards per game in wins over Oklahoma State, SMU, Arkansas and Jackson State. In regards to points, that number has been an average of only 18.5 per contest although the unit has given up 30-plus points in back-to-back games after allowing only seven in the first two. The Horned Frogs experienced defensive unit has been especially stingy on the ground only yielding 94 yards per game.

TCU has been somewhat susceptible at times through the air however, giving up a total of 229 yards per contest ranking the unit 67th nationally. The Horned Frogs lead the Big 12 Conference in sacks however, and are holding teams to only 32.1-percent on third downs through four games.
