Wright will fill the last vacant role on the West Virginia Mountaineers football coaching staff.

West Virginia has named former Western Michigan safeties coach Dontae Wright as the new outside linebackers coach for the Mountaineers.

The news was reported by the official school website.

Wright had previously served as the safeties coach for the Broncos for the past two seasons before accepting the post in Morgantown.

Prior to WMU, Wright served as an assistant coach at Tennessee Tech for two seasons (2016-17), mentoring the specialists and the defensive ends. At the beginning of the 2017 season, Wright was promoted to defensive coordinator. He additionally spent time at Morehead State where he also served as the coordinator.

Wright steps into the role vacated by Al Pogue, who accepted a position as a defensive assistant on the Auburn coaching staff. He made $225,000 prior to leaving the program with one year left on his deal.

"Dontae is an excellent addition to our coaching staff and comes highly recommended," Brown said. "He brings years of defensive experience and has an ability to recruit with success in different areas of the country. I was impressed with his leadership and player development at each of his stops. We are looking forward to Dontae joining the Mountaineer Football program."

Wright is a native of Kentucky and played his college football at Miami (Oh.).

Brown now has filled all 10 assistants on his coaching staff.
