WVU lands JUCO QB Isreal
West Virginia has secured yet another late addition commitment for 2017 in El Dorado (Kan.) Butler C.C. quarterback David Isreal following an official visit to Morgantown.
Isreal, 6-foot-2, 190-pounds, just moved onto the Mountaineers radar earlier this past week when offensive coordinator Jake Spavital got in contact with the signal caller and things progressed quickly from there between the two.

The assistant also served as the lead recruiter for Isreal.
“I spoke to the offensive coordinator and he told me about the quarterback situation and needing somebody to come in after Will Grier,” Isreal said.
By Thursday, the junior college cornerback was in Morgantown and offered his commitment to the football program after receiving a scholarship offer.
A late qualifier out of high school, Isreal is originally from South Carolina but spent this past season at Butler where he accounted for around 2,200 all-purpose yards to go along with 19 touchdowns. That caught the eye of several programs with Memphis also offering while SMU showed interest.
Isreal is set to enroll at West Virginia in the summer and will have four years to play three when he arrives at West Virginia to begin his college career. He will immediately eligible this fall and is the first quarterback that West Virginia has added in the 2017 cycle after not initially signing one during the period.
In Isreal, West Virginia has found a dual threat quarterback that fills a need for an arm that has three year of on the field eligibility in addition to a redshirt year in the 2017 cycle which is what the program had been looking for in the days after signing day.
Overall he is the third late addition to the 2017 class behind Syracuse graduate transfer cornerback Corey Winfield and junior college cornerback Fontez Davis.
In addition to West Virginia, Isreal also took an unofficial visit to Memphis and becomes the fourth scholarship quarterback on the Mountaineers roster for this coming fall.
