Anderson (S.C.) Westside 2025 athlete Armoni Weaver had been committed to Appalachian State but opened up his recruitment in early December.

Now, a familiar face is targeting him at West Virginia.

Weaver, 5-foot-10, 170-pounds, was recruited by cornerbacks coach Rod West at his previous stop with Appalachian State and the now West Virginia cornerbacks coach reached out to him to extend a scholarship offer from the Big 12 program.

“Coach West was on the old staff at App State and he left and went to West Virginia and then got connected and boom,” he said.

West Virginia is targeting Weaver as a slot wide receiver and on top of West, he spoke with inside wide receivers coach Blaine Stewart. The all-purpose athlete caught 26 passes for 541 yards and 7 touchdowns during this past season.

The West Virginia coaches are attempting to set up a visit to campus either Jan. 19 or Jan. 26 and he is planning to make the trip to Morgantown to see what the school has to offer.

That is the only planned trip for Weaver at the moment and he wants to find a school where he can get onto the field early and make the most of his opportunities.

“A final decision is coming soon,” he said.
