The West Virginia Mountaineers football program has addressed a need in the current recruiting class with a pledge from Douglasville (Ga.) 2025 linebacker Michael Hastie.
Hastie, 6-foot-2, 220-pounds, also held offers from Florida State, Texas A&M, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Kansas, Minnesota, Louisville, UCF, Indiana, Appalachian State, Western Kentucky and Arkansas State.
The talented linebacker received a scholarship offer from the Mountaineers in June of 2023 and was recruited by inside linebackers coach Jeff Koonz.
That led to an official visit to Morgantown June 7 which was enough to push the Big 12 Conference program over the top in his recruitment despite a number of other options.
The Mountaineers are targeting Hastie as a linebacker with plus athleticism. Hastie put together a monster junior season where he recorded 122 tackles and 2 interceptions.
Hastie is the first linebacker commitment to select the Mountaineers in the 2025 recruiting class and represents a major addition for West Virginia.
He is the 19th commitment overall for West Virginia in the 2025 recruiting cycle.
WVSports.com will have more with Hastie in the near future.
