Middletown (De.) 2026 defensive back Dorian Rutledge came back to West Virginia for the 7-on-7 tournament and was able to get another in-depth look at the program.

Rutledge, 6-foot-3, 180-pounds, was impressed by the experience and also received strong feedback from the coaches after his performance on the field.

“I got positive feedback from most of the coaches while I was down there,” he said.

The Rivals.com three-star prospect spent time talking with secondary coach ShaDon Brown, offensive coordinator Chad Scott and analyst Tre Bell and each of them made him feel like a priority.

“They were telling me how well I played and they also want to stay in touch with me and build a relationship,” he said.

That connection with the Mountaineers has only continued to grow since the program jumped into the mix with a scholarship offer in May and he also believes that West Virginia is moving in the right direction.

“I feel their program is definitely going in the right direction as of how it’s looking right now for their recruiting process,” he said.

Along with West Virginia, Rutledge has also visited Duke and he plans on returning to both of those this fall along with several others such as Pittsburgh, Maryland, Boston College and more.
