2026 OL Barclay now has West Virginia on his radar after visit

Minneola (Fla.) Lake Minneola 2026 offensive lineman Chancellor Barclay made his first visit to West Virginia in mid-April but he’s hoping it won’t be his last.

Barclay, 6-foot-4, 280-pounds, had been talking with offensive line graduate assistant Ryan Alexander and he made it no secret that the talented underclassman was high on the Mountaineers’ radar.

So, while he was not necessarily planning for it, the scholarship offer from West Virginia didn’t come as a surprise either.

“He was recruiting me hard and talking to me about how he wants me up at West Virginia,” he said.

The Rivals.com four-star prospect was able to get a first-hand look at everything the Mountaineers football program had to offer and was impressed with the focus on recovery as well as the development of student athletes. Those are two things that really stood out for a number of reasons.

That includes how everything with the football program is centralized in one spot.

“They have everything ready for to be able to play at your best and everything is connected,” he said.

West Virginia is targeting Barclay as a center or guard which fits his skill set as he believes he can play multiple spots at the college level.

Still, the visit served as a positive for West Virginia because of how committed the coaches are to developing their players not only on the field but away from it as well.

“It was definitely an eye opener for me,” he said.

The hope for Barclay is to make it back to West Virginia for another trip in the future either in the summer or potentially for a game in the fall.

“I’m just really blessed for this opportunity,” he said.
