2026 OL Courtney Heard talks West Virginia offer

Sharpsburg (Ga.) East Coweta 2026 offensive lineman Courtney Heard now holds an offer from West Virginia and is looking into making a visit to campus in the near future.

Heard, 6-foot-6, 290-pounds, had been talking with inside linebackers coach Jeff Koonz since the spring and the assistant let him know that he was keeping him on his radar.

That culminated with the Mountaineers jumping into the mix with a scholarship offer.

“He let me know that they’d be looking out for me,” he said.

West Virginia joins a list of programs which also includes Georgia, Florida State, Maryland, East Carolina and several others. He is still just starting the process of learning more about the Mountaineers but does have a high opinion of the program at this stage of things.

“I know that West Virginia is a team destined to win a national championship,” he said.

Heard still has yet to visit Morgantown but does hope to make it to campus at some point along with some other stops to see schools that are involved with his recruitment.

“I’m planning on going on multiple visits soon,” he said.

All of the schools involved are targeting Heard as an offensive tackle and each are impressed with not only his size but his combination of athleticism and footwork.

“Coaches like my athleticism,” he said.

Heard is just dipping his toes into the waters of his recruitment but does know that he eventually wants to find a college program that is going to make him feel at home.

“And can develop me into the best player possible,” he said.
