West Virginia University was in J.T. Thomas III’s bloodlines from birth. That’s because his father, J.T. Thomas II, had patrolled the Mountaineers linebacking corps in the mid-90s under legendary head coach Don Nehlen winning the John Russell Leadership Award during his senior season.

J.T. III, as he would become known, wasn’t a stranger to Morgantown either.
