Each week WVSports.com Managing Editor Keenan Cummings provides a look at some of the things that stood out to him during the course of the game and on the stat sheet.

These observations are a snap shot of what unfolded in the West Virginia 41-31 loss to TCU and what could happen next for the Mountaineers.

–West Virginia allowed 332 yards on 25 plays at halftime which is 13.28 per play. Yikes. Obviously things got better in the second as the Horned Frogs managed only 162 yards on 30 total plays and the unit held them to only 13 points. Still, the drive before the half was critical as it allowed the Horned Frogs to take momentum and the lead into the break. There were some mistakes and miscues across the board and at times it seemed as if players weren’t exactly sure what they were doing in certain situations. Again, credit the defense for settling in after halftime and giving the team a chance to win but the first half isn’t erased.

--West Virginia had six second half drives not counting the short field on the muffed punt and it resulted in 1 touchdown and five empty ones. That isn’t going to cut it at home.
