There are nine Big 12 games that separate now and the end of the regular season and with that, the Mountaineers are still in first place and are in the driver's seat to continue to make some noise.

West Virginia completed their fourth Big 12 series sweep in a row, taking down UCF on the road this past weekend. The Mountaineers have now won 14 league games in a row, but that has not equated to a ton of separation in the league standings.

WVU is currently in first place at 16-3 in the standings, while Kansas is right behind the Mountaineers at 15-6, having won six straight games in league play themselves.

West Virginia holds a two-game lead on the Jayhawks, meaning the only way they can pass the Mountaineers this weekend is if WVU loses two of three to Texas Tech, and Kansas takes two of three from Cincinnati.

Behind the Jayhawks are four teams, all within two games of each other. Arizona State and TCU are 14-7 in league play, Arizona is 13-8, and Kansas State is 12-9.

Out of the six teams mentioned so far, five of the six are set to face at least one other team in the top six of the league standings in the final three regular-season series. Arizona State is the only team not to have any of the other top competitors on their schedule, facing Baylor, Houston, and Oklahoma State to end the regular season.

West Virginia is the only team with two series against a team in the top six of the league standings, facing Kansas State on the road and Kansas at home to conclude their final two series of the season.

Kansas and Kansas State's series is against WVU, while Arizona and TCU face each other this upcoming weekend.

Kansas State at 12-9 is currently 5.0 games behind West Virginia, which sits in first place. The Wildcats will host the Mountaineers, as Kansas State has been almost unbeatable at home this season, posting a 16-2 home mark, including 10-2 in home Big 12 games, and has not lost a conference series at home.

Arizona is four games back of West Virginia, but they hold the series tiebreaker over WVU as they took two of three from the Mountaineers in Morgantown. Depending on how their series against TCU goes this weekend, it could go a long way in determining who finishes near the top of the Big 12. The Wildcats are 20-3 in home games this season, while TCU is 11-5 on the road. During league play, TCU has gone 5-4 when playing on the road.

Kansas will have to take a trip to Morgantown to conclude the season, as the Jayhawks are 16-7 in road games, including a 7-5 mark in Big 12 play. WVU is 15-3 at home, with a 7-2 mark during conference play.

Eight teams in the league are below .500 in conference play this season, while two teams (Cincinnati and Texas Tech) are 10-11 this season in Big 12 play.
