Huntington (W.Va.) 2025 defensive back Zah Jackson has gotten quite familiar with West Virginia over the years so the Mountaineers jumping in with a scholarship offer was significant.
Jackson, 5-foot-10, 180-pounds, received the scholarship offer after a discussion with safeties coach Dontae Wright.
The two have been in contact for quite some time and the in-state prospect has made multiple visits to Morgantown for camp, junior day and game visits.
The most recent camp stop was this past summer and that performance caught the attention of the coaches with his abilities as a defensive back.
“I think it was very meaningful after all the work I’ve put in to get that offer and after all the times I’ve been to camp and visiting them,” he said.
Along with Wright, Jackson has kept a strong connection with offensive line coach Matt Moore and believes that all of the coaches on staff have been very welcoming to him over the years.
“I really love how the coaches make it feel like home and you know it’s in-state which is a good thing not being very far from home,” he said.
West Virginia is targeting the talented prospect as a safety but also believe that he could potentially help on the offensive side as he continues to develop.
Outside of West Virginia, Jackson has made stops at Penn State, North Carolina State, Cincinnati and Marshall and he is looking to make even more trips.
West Virginia is a big addition to the offer list for Jackson who also holds scholarships from Mississippi State and Liberty but he is keeping an open mind.
“I want for it to feel like home and a place where it feels like home to my family as well,” he said.
