2026 DB Cresser impressed with West Virginia

Clearwater (Fla.)Tarpon Springs 2026 safety CJ Cresser got his first look at West Virginia ahead of the dead period and left with a strong impression.

Cresser, 6-foot-1, 171-pounds, was impressed with the entire presentation on campus but especially the way that the coaching staff treated him.

He already held an offer from the Mountaineers that he received in February but this was a chance to get to see what the program was all about.

“The coaches are really loyal to the program and if I was to end up there I know I would be developed well as a student and a football player,” he said.

On the visit Cresser was able to tour the campus as well as get a look at the facilities that the program has. Both of those checked the right boxes for him.

“This was my first time visiting and everything was amazing,” he said. “The coaches and staff were amazing and on top of that the facilities are beautiful. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Offensive coordinator Chad Scott was the coach that Cresser spent the most time with during his time on campus and he gave him some good insight into how the program operates.

“He told me how they developed their players and get them ready for the next level not only for football but with education, too,” he said.

West Virginia is targeting Cresser as a strong safety and is coming off a season where he recorded 76 tackles, 8 tackles for loss and 3 interceptions.

And after seeing it once, Cresser definitely plans on making it back for another look at some point in the near future to see even more that the school has to offer.
