Conroe (Tx.) 2026 nickel Xavier Harmon wasn’t expecting an offer from West Virginia to come through when it did but that’s exactly what unfolded.

Harmon, 6-foot-2, 180-pounds, first found out about the news when cornerbacks coach Rod West told his high school head coach. And then the two were able to speak on the phone.

“He told me he was going to offer me, and it was exciting knowing that one of the best highlight tapes ever (Tavon Austin) has come from West Virginia,” he said.

The assistant let Harmon know that he was impressed with not only his size, but his complete skill set and how he brings the intangibles to the table that he’s looking for as a cornerback or nickel.

Harmon wants to try to visit West Virginia but has a long list of planned stops already such as TCU, SMU, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Utah, Kent State and Stanford.

“I would love to visit,” he said.

Harmon has the versatility to play corner or safety at the college level and he is being targeted at both spots depending on the school that is involved.

He wants to eventually settle into a school that’s going to give him the opportunity to play as a true freshman as well as where he can be set up for success after the game is behind him.

“I know I can compete and I’m very coachable,” he said.
