DISCUSS: Visit the Blue Lot to discuss West Virginia all year long

West Virginia has received a commitment from the junior college ranks after Northwest Florida C.C. forward Andrew Gordon announced his decision in favor of the Mountaineers.

Gordon, 6-foot-10, officially visited Morgantown during the Sept. 15 weekend and that’s when the Mountaineers offered the athletic big man a scholarship.

“I would like to announce that I will be furthering my education and basketball career at the University of West Virginia!!!!!!!!!” Gordon first tweeted.

The news also was confirmed by his coach.

He will have three years to play three when he arrives in Morgantown. He is redshirting this season at the junior college level as he recovers from a knee injury after averaging 3.7 points per game a year ago in around ten minutes per contest.

A force around the basket on both ends, Gordon also chipped in with 3.6 rebounds per contest throughout the 2016 campaign.

Gordon spent a season at prep school in Connecticut before his time in junior college.

Overall, Gordon becomes the fourth member of the West Virginia 2018 class behind Hollywood (Fla.) University School guard Trey Doomes, Kaukauna (Wi.) point guard Jordan McCabe and Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy forward Derek Culver.

He represents the second pledge for the basketball program this week behind Doomes, who committed to the Mountaineers Thursday evening.
