West Virginia Mountaineers: Commitment 101: Jalil Hall
West Virginia has added another talented pass catcher with a commitment from Drexel Hill (Pa.) Monsignor Bonner 2025 wide receiver Jalil Hall.
Hall, 6-foot-4, 181-pounds, selected the Mountaineers over the remainder of his top five schools which included Maryland, Rutgers, Syracuse and Duke. In addition to those schools, Hall also held offers from Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, Nebraska and several others.
West Virginia had been involved with Hall for quite some time initially offering in December but was able to secure his first official visit which led to his decision.
Offensive coordinator Chad Scott served as the lead recruiter for Hall and was able to develop a strong connection which put the Mountaineers in a good overall spot in his recruitment.
Hall is the fourth wide receiver to commit to West Virginia in the 2025 class behind Hurricane (W.Va.) wide receiver Tyshawn Dues, Cheshire (Ct.) Academy 2025 wide receiver Teriq Mallory and Danville (Ky.) Boyle County 2025 athlete Montavin Quisenberry. He is the 21st commitment overall for the Mountaineers.

Skill set:
Hall has excellent size on the outside and uses that to his advantage to go up and win in contested catch situations. The 6-foot-4 pass catcher displays the ability to high-point the ball and come down with it in traffic. But he isn’t just a big body, as Hall often shows the ability to run by defenders and get vertical.
Hall also has the ability and wiggle to turn short passes into big chunks of yards which makes him an intriguing fit with the variety of ways that he can be used at the position. He understands how to control his body to put himself in position to come down with the football and catches it well with his hands.
There is a lot of potential here given what he brings to the table and the Mountaineers have found an exciting piece to the puzzle by bringing him into the fold.
Fitting the program:
Hall gives West Virginia another big outside wide receiver target that the coaches prioritized since first entering the picture with a scholarship offer. He fills a need with a high school option that the coaches had to use a transfer portal spot this past off-season in order to address.
The Pennsylvania native developed a strong bond with the coaching staff which was critical in his decision-making process to pick the Mountaineers. Combine that with the need and the comfort level that he had with the program and it’s a decision that made sense for him for a lot of different reasons.
The Mountaineers wanted to add more outside big pass catchers in this cycle and Hall gives the coaching staff exactly that after an impressive junior season where he flashed his overall skill set. Hall also will pair well with fellow 2025 commitment Mallory to give the program two options in the same mold. He will have every opportunity to step into an early role in Morgantown as long as he proves up to the task.
Recruiting the position:
With four wide receivers in the fold, the Mountaineers are still in the mix for Coconut Creek (Fla.) Monarch 2025 wide receiver Samari Reed who visited in June.
