No. 16 West Virginia heads to Charleston on Wednesday to close out its season series with in-state foe Marshall at GoMart Ballpark. First pitch is set for 6 PM ET, with the game available on ESPN+ and the Mountaineer Sports Network.
Winners of 14 straight in Big 12 play, the Mountaineers come into the midweek matchup at 37-5 overall and tied for the highest winning percentage in the country at .881. WVU recently completed its fourth straight conference sweep, taking three from UCF over the weekend.
Skylar King continues to lead the team at the plate with a .361 average, while Jace Rinehart has driven in 43 runs and shares the team lead in home runs (7) with Logan Sauve. On the mound, Reese Bassinger and Chase Meyer were both named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Watch List, and Carson Estridge has added five saves of his own since returning to the bullpen.
Right-hander Gavin Van Kempen (2-0, 5.25 ERA) is expected to get the start for WVU.
Marshall enters at 23-22 after sweeping South Alabama. Peyton Jackson (2-2, 1.47 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Herd. Eddie Leon leads the team with a .278 average, while Ethan Murdoch has nine home runs. Charlie Krebs anchors the bullpen with a 2.62 ERA over 34.1 innings.
WVU took the first meeting between the two programs earlier this season in Morgantown 7-0, and collected a 5-4 win over the Herd in Huntington.
