2025 WR Mallory discusses West Virginia visit, offer

Cheshire Academy (Ct.) 2025 wide receiver Teriq Mallory was on campus at West Virginia for a Junior Day and left with a scholarship offer from the Mountaineers.

Mallory, 6-foot-5, 190-pounds, already held offers from Maryland, Connecticut and Massachusetts but the scholarship offer from the Mountaineers is one that stands out for a variety of reasons.

“When the head coach offered me I was very excited because I feel like I worked very hard for it and it’s a coaching staff that I would love to play for,” he said.

During the trip, Mallory was impressed not only with the atmosphere and overall experience but how well he fit in with the offensive scheme and their overall goals as a program. This was the second time that Mallory has made it to campus after competing in a one-day camp last June, but this was his best.

Wide receivers coach Bilal Marshall and head coach Neal Brown spent the bulk of their time with Mallory and the pair let him know the requirements on and off the field.

“I have a chance to play early which is important to me,” he said.

West Virginia is recruiting Mallory at wide receiver because of his combination of frame, speed and size. The coaches are impressed with his ability to go up and highpoint the football in the air.

“I will fit their offense because they pass the ball a lot and I feel like with my size I will be able to go up and get the ball while also being able to run great routes with great speed,” he said.

West Virginia is already one of the favorites for Mallory and he plans to come back for another visit in the near future. He also is looking into a number of other stops in the coming weeks and months.

Still, the Mountaineers have made a very strong impression thus far.

“I love everything about West Virginia,” he said.

Mallory wants to find a place where he can play early, a coaching staff that he gets along with and the right academic situation.

He wants to have his recruitment closed before his senior year.
