West Virginia has landed the commitment of a former Big 10 defensive back for the second time in this class when Wesson (Miss.) Copiah-Lincoln cornerback Keith Washington committed to the program.

Washington, 6-foot-2, 180-pounds, took an official visit to West Virginia for the Texas game and that was enough to seal the deal on his commitment as the Mountaineers had surged of late. Capped off by a productive visit to campus where he was able to get the full picture of the football program.

A prospect that could compete for immediate playing time, Washington will step into a situation at West Virginia where the Mountaineers will be looking to replace a trio of seniors that have exhausted their eligibility.

The former Michigan signee elected to leave the Wolverines program in the fall and enrolled at Co-Lin where he garnered interest from a number of programs including the Mountaineers.

The Rivals.com two-star prospect was recruited by cornerbacks coach Doug Belk and he also took an official visit to Toledo and UAB as well as receiving a number of other offers including Texas Tech, Kansas, East Carolina and several others as well as interest from Auburn and LSU.

Originally committed to California out of high school, the Prattville, Alabama native flipped his commitment to Michigan on national signing day and spent two years with the program including a redshirt season. He will have two years to play two when he graduates in December.

Washington becomes the 23rd commitment for West Virginia in the 2018 class and fills a major need for the Mountaineers at the cornerback position. He becomes the second pledge for the football program at the cornerback spot in this cycle following Valdosta (Ga.) cornerback Jayce Rogers.

He becomes the second former Big 10 defensive back to commit to the Mountaineers following Senatobia (Miss.) Northwest Mississippi C.C. safety Josh Norwood who was originally at Ohio State.

WVSports.com will have more with Washington in the near future.
