Pittsburgh (Pa.) Central Catholic 2026 linebacker Colsen Gatten received an offer from West Virginia in January 2024 but with the coaching change in Morgantown that left some uncertainty.

Those questions were answered when defensive coordinator Zac Alley let Gatten know that the Mountaineers were re-offering him a scholarship.

“It was a great feeling. Coach Alley called and we talked and it was a great feeling being able to talk to him again. He recruited me at Oklahoma as well,” Gatten said.

The assistant let the Rivals.com three-star prospect know what the Mountaineers are building in Morgantown and that he is going to keep recruiting him hard in his new location.

“His message was just to keep working and come up to see what they are building,” he said.

Alley is impressed with the way that Gatten plays linebacker in space as well as how fast he is in terms of the ability to play the run and pass.

“They could see me playing any linebacker spot,” he said.

Gatten plans to make it to Morgantown for a junior day visit on Feb. 1 in order to get a look at the program with the new coaching staff in place and learn more about the school.

He also plans to visit Penn State, Pittsburgh, Michigan, Indiana, and Duke.
