The Big 12 Conference will begin its new media rights deal with their partners for the 2025 season.
The deal will span six years through the 2030-31 season and bring in over $2.2 billion for the league during that time period.
The primary deal is with both ESPN and FOX while some of the content has been licensed to CBS, NBC and TNT giving the conference five distribution partners.
“Which gives us an advantage to elevate our brand and do more storytelling. When you think about the windows being on broadcast television because right now that’s the widest reaching platform to be on,” Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark said.
Yormark reiterated that the league has great media partners and highlighted that the conference will be featured on both FOX and ESPN throughout the first three weeks of the football season.
In total, the conference has 16 games that will be televised on FOX or the prime ESPN in the first three weeks of the 2025-26 football season and that doesn’t include the other outlets.
“I’m very confident our TV partners will continue to put us in the right windows so we can elevate and amplify what we do. Tell great stories around our student athletes and our conference,” Yormark said.
The Big 12 will play a total of 11 Friday games this season with a total of seven of those being matchups against teams within the league. One of those is the West Virginia trip to BYU Oct. 3.
“You’ve seen a couple games, more so than we’ve had in the past, on Friday night because there is clearer air there,” Yormark said.
The league will also be showcased on Monday and Thursday during the first weekend of the season. That is something that the league will continue to explore as ways to enhance viewership opportunities for schools within the league.
The Big 12 also will feature an international game Aug. 23 between Kansas State and Iowa State set in Dublin, Ireland which will be televised by ESPN.
“I like the international narrative we can create from a conference perspective,” Yormark said.
